Iapetus is an Independent/Underground record label based in JHB,  South Africa.
Founded in ‘07, to empower musicians not willing to conform to the mass productions of major music factories… 
To keep making  music free from corporate influence.
 

Run by the artists themselves and influenced by such Independent labels as  Boogie Down Productions , The Bomb Squad 
and Ninja Tunes , Iapetus continue to release alternative music exacly the way they want to.

As individual artists or as a collective Iapetus has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in the genre, such as  Public Enemy (US), GZA (US), MC Lyte (US), Pete Rock and CL Smooth (US), Jonzi D (UK), Black Thought (US), Jeru (US), Tumi (SA), Soweto kinch (UK), Lesego Rampologeng (SA), MosDef (US), Copywrite (US), Dead Prez (US), Wordsworth (UK), as well as made music with Jonzi D, Poetic death,

Kendrick Lamar, Planet Asia, Vince Staples, Boxguts, Historian Himself and Jak Progresso to name a few.
